Insurance is the responsibility of the visiting city. Travel and medical insurance are a requirement for registering and participating in the ICG2016. This insurance should cover the medical costs in the case of a treatment.

The voltage of electricity in the Tyrol is 220-240 volts.
The type F plug (CCE 7/4) and commonly called a “Schuko plug” is used in Austria.
International visitors who plan to bring electronics or appliances should also bring any required adaptors or converters. We do not provide voltage converters.

Save electricity! The ICG 2016 are a Green Event. Please help us to save electricity. Here are some simple tips on how to save electricity:
– Turn off the lights when you leave the room
– Unplug appliances when they are not in in use

Water in the Tyrol and Innsbruck comes fresh from mountain springs, it is pure and excellent quality. Water may be drunk straight from the tap. So use your water bottle and fill it with fresh Tyrolean water.

Local currency
The currency in Austria is the Euro (sign: €; code: EUR). The following Euro bank notes and coins are in circulation: Bank notes with face value of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 Euros; Coins: 1 and 2 Euro dominations as well as 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins.
Banks are generally open from Monday to Friday, with some branches open on Saturdays. Banks are closed on Sundays.

Payments and Payment Methods
Shops in Austria accept debit and credit cards. However, it is recommendable to always have some cash with you as there is a minimum charge amount at some places.

In Austria restaurants include the tax in the bill, however it is customary to give a 10% tip in restaurants. If you are satisfied with the service, you may choose to round up the total sum when paying. If you were not satisfied with the service, it is not unusual to give less tip.


The lost & found offices are located at the Venue Offices and the Delegation Services Centre. All items which have not been picked up will be collected at the Delegation Services Centre and brought to the Innsbruck Lost & Found Office (Fundamt) after the Games.


Spectator Transport / Public Transport Services
The Public Transport Service in Innsbruck consists of a comprehensive network of bus and tram routes operated by the Innsbrucker Verkehrsbetriebe (IVB). This travel network provides easy access to the ICG 2016 venues within the city of Innsbruck.

Please be aware that no specific parking spaces will be provided at the venues. The existing parking spaces will be available for all ICG Clients. For Information please refer to the respective venue.

Ski Busses
In addition to the ICG 2016 Shuttle Service the following Ski Bus Routes operate on a regular basis and are accessible with a valid Ski Pass.

Innsbruck is located in the heart of Europe and the Alps. Its central location and excellent infrastructure make it easy to visit with public transport or by car. For more information on how to get to Innsbruck by plane, train, bus or car follow this LINK.


The Delegation Assistants support and accompany the delegation members throughout the Games. On the 11 January 2016 you will meet your Delegation Assistants in person on arrival. They will assist you with the check-in and accreditation. They will also assist your delegation members with any questions they have in English or their mother tongue. At the opening ceremony the Delegation Assistants will guide the delegations on to the stage to be presented.
