During the ICG 2016 there will be around 2000 guests (athletes, officials, ICG Committee members, VIPs, media representatives) living in a range of hotels in Innsbruck and the surrounding area. As an Accommodation Volunteer you will help allocate this accommodation to the respective delegations and pass on accommodation-related information on a daily basis. You will also answer questions and generally make sure that guests enjoy their stay in Innsbruck.
With several thousand people receiving accreditation for the Games, Accreditation is one of the cornerstones of the ICG 2016. Accreditation cards provide information about which areas the accreditation holder has access to. Volunteers will help to create, manage and issue accreditation cards as well as helping guests who wish to apply for or have lost their accreditation. As such, Accreditation Volunteers will be among the first people that teams, partners, Volunteers and guests meet in Innsbruck.
Administration & Project Management
During the ICG 2016 the Organising Committee will be working hard to coordinate and monitor all processes and persons involved in the Games. As a Volunteer in the field Administration & Project Management you will help to prepare meetings, provide information, monitor processes and, if necessary, supply operative support.
The Ceremonies Team is responsible for organising and carrying out the opening and closing ceremony. Additionally to building up and removing different parts for the ceremonies, you will be responsible for the coordination of the running-in of the athletes and the programme.
As a Delegation Assistant you will look after a delegation comprising a head of delegation, athletes and officials. This will involve accompanying the delegation members throughout the day, answering questions and solving any problems so that they enjoy their stay in Innsbruck. You will also form the link between the Innsbruck 2016 Organising Committee and the delegation you are responsible for.
With so many people involved in the event, it has to be made sure that everything runs smoothly. In the Event Services area you are not only the contact person for athletes, coaches and officials in the venues, but also the first contact point for visitors and other persons interested in the Games with their questions. At the medal ceremonies cool heads and fast hands are also required. You are responsible for the coordination activity and the last briefing for the persons handing over the medals.
The Logistics Team keeps transport, storage and distribution of everything linked to the ICG 2016 running smoothly. Tasks include coordinating the punctual delivery and distribution of goods.
The Marketing Team will ensure that Innsbruck, Seefeld, Axams, Kühtai, Götzens and Telfs catch the “ICG fever” by decorating these towns using banners, flags and signs. During the Games you will act as the primary contact person for ICG partners and sponsors and help coordinate events they take part in. Or how about getting a different perspective on the event as one of the official ICG 2016 mascots? Now is your chance!
Alongside the sports competitions during the ICG 2016, exciting side events will be offered in the “Homebase”. As a Volunteer, you will support the international athletes and local youngsters participating in the many activities by leading workshops, providing information or helping with administration and coordination.
The Sport Team works in the venues and helps prepare the facilities (pistes, ice rinks, changing rooms and communal areas) for training sessions and competitions. Other tasks include everything from administration in the race office to handing out start bibs and assisting athletes and officials. Sport is one of the most wide-ranging working areas at the ICG 2016.
Tyrolean School Winter Games
Youngsters from the local region will also have a chance to showcase their skills during the ICG as part of the 1st Tyrolean School Winter Games, which will see school pupils from across the Tyrol compete against each other in a wide range of winter disciplines. As a Volunteer you will look after the youngsters from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. This will include helping out at competitions, coordinating schedules and ensuring a great atmosphere amongst the participants.
Getting quickly and safely from the accommodation to the training venues and the competition venues is an important factor for athletes, coaches and officials. As a Transport Volunteer, you will be based in the transport offices, transport HQ, hotels, airport or train station – in all these areas your coordination skills are required.
In this area the Venue Management counts on your full commitment directly on site. You will act as a central interface between all functional areas and furthermore, your tasks include the coordination of the build-up of the stands, barriers, tents as well as the sound and light equipment. You will also support the security services at checking the security areas and coordinate the transport to the venues.
VIP Services & Protocol
As a Volunteer working for the VIP Services & Protocol Team you will help to prepare and carry out the opening and closing ceremony and will welcome guests to official receptions. Tasks will also include supporting VIPs, accompanying them to the medal ceremonies and informing them about protocol procedure. You may even find yourself walking onto the stage with the successful athletes as they receive their medals!
Volunteer Management coordinates and looks after all Volunteers working for the ICG 2016. You will answer questions, hand out uniforms and help plan daily schedules. From your base in the Volunteer Center you will also be responsible for organising activities, selecting music for the chillout sessions and generally keeping all the Volunteers happy and motivated.
